#3. Isn’t that day the Aadi Eighteenth Day? So People from neighbouring villages were coming with a kind of car which is made by ivory-colored young coconut leaves. Men and women came in wearing new clothes and making various decorations. The women adorned their hair with flowers of fragrant screw pine , amethyst, jasmine, mullai flower, iruvachchi and champak flower. Many came as a family, taking part in the festival. Some stood on the edge of the lake and put the food they had brought in on the areca nut bat. Some of the brave ones went a little farther into the water and reached the banks of the river Vadavaru and stood there and ate.
Seeing all this, Vandiyadhevan stood there for a while. He even heard some of the women were singing in a sweet voice. They sang the running song, the gummy song, the flood song, the Indus song. They sang very enthusiastically.
Others sang songs to praising the heroism of the Chola kings. Some women sang the heroism of Vijayalaya Chola who was involved in 32 battles and wore 96 wounds on his body as ornaments. A woman sang a beautiful song about the heroism of his son Aditya Chola, who built 64 Shiva temples from the place where the Kaveri River is produced to end at the sea. Adithan’s son Paranthaka Chola defeated the pandyas, Cheras and Pallavas and sent off the troops to Eelam and hoist the victory flag. Another woman sang the history of paranthaka chola’s victory. All of were surrounded the singing womens and enjoying the songs, encouraging the girls and expressing their feelings with enthusiastically.
A grandmother keenly watched who sat on the horse and enjoying the song. She went near to him and called "Dear son! Looks like you’re tired from traveling so far. Get off the horse and eat".
Is Vandhiyathevan come and eat as per wish of grandma????!!!!
Keep thinking...
