#2. Vandhiyathevan longed to know that the 74 passes of the lake were real ... He counted every canal with the intention of knowing it. About 10.5 miles away he crossed that lake and crossed 70 canals.

Wow! What a vast lake this is! How long! How wide! All the lakes built during the reign of the Pallava emperors in Thondai Nadu seem to be small ponds in front of this lake! Prince Rajadithar(the son of Paranthaka Chola from Madurai) thought that the water went to Kollidam and falls into the sea wasted..He thought how to used the water usefully..So he built the veeranam lake..how brillant he was!!!Also he participated in the thakkolam war in leading position with elephant and win the war..In this war rajaraja chozhan' was not participate..so he called with a special name as 'yanai Mel thunjiya chozhan' and got a heroic paradise..what a heroic warrior!

The kings of this Chola dynasty are amazing!

Counting all this, he came to the south bank of Veeranam Lake. There he saw the Vadavaru lake splitting from the Kollidam river and joining the lake. There was a river bed in the shore of the lake. This was helpful to avoid damaging the shore during the floods. The river bed was planted with oak trees and wood apple trees.

The view of the fresh flood of Vadavar with the tree line on both sides coming from the south-west direction and mixing with Veeranam Lake looked like a beautiful colored painting when viewed from a little distance.

While amazed at this beautiful view, Vandhiyathevan saw some more scenes .. keep thinking about what he saw.. ..

Next post I will tell..

Stay tuned…
